The Stevens Family (Michael, Sarah, & Olivia)

Location: Slovakia

Ministry: Michael's father answered the Lord’s calling to be a missionary reaching their people, the Gypsies, when he was ten years old. His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio where there is a large population of Gypsy people, and started the first Gypsy Outreach among Independent Baptists. After graduating from high school, he attended Pensacola Christian College ehre he studied History, Political Science, and Bible with intentions of going on to law school. During his Senior year at PCC, he began to lose his desire to go to law school. He began fervently praying that God would show him His will about what he should do with his life.

Around that time he was praying for his parents, who were taking a missions trip to reach the Gypsies of Europe. He was praying for their safety and ministry, and that God would send more labourers to reach the Gypsy people of Europe with the Gospel. He remembers telling the Lord that there are far too many Gypsies in Europe and not enough missionaries. That is when the Lord spoke to his heart, revealing to him that He wanted him to go to Europe and plant churches among the Gypsies there. The summer following his college graduation, he took a survey trip to Europe. While he were there he visited the country of Slovakia. It was at that time that the Lord cemented in his heart that He wanted him to give his life to Him by reaching the Gypsies of Slovakia. Upon my return to the United States, he attended Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida and took a year of ministerial classes to prepare for his future ministry.

Their current ministry goals are as follows:

1) Plant Indigenous, Autonomous, Independent Baptist Churches among the Gypsies of Slovakia.

2) Develop a strong discipleship program for those who trust Christ as their personal Saviour.

3) Start a Bible Institute that will train Gypsy men to be national pastors preaching Christ among the Gypsies.

4) Start a Christian School where Gypsy children can receive a solid education with a Biblical perspective.

5) Begin a Christian orphanage for abandoned and orphaned Gypsy children. They will receive the Gospel, as well as a loving home.
