The Eckman Family (Tom & Donna)

Location: Argentina

Ministry: Tom was saved August 8, 1965 in a Baptist church in Buffalo, NY. He was baptized two years later. After serving as a Lieutenant in Vietnam, Tom returned to Buffalo in 1970. He met his wife in 1969. Donna was saved at the age of 9 years. On July 4, 1970, Tom was called to missionary service in South America. After studying at Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI (and later obtaining two Master’s degrees in Bible studies), they were appointed by Baptist World Missions on May 13, 1974 to the field of Argentina.

Tom & Donna Eckman raised five children on the mission field. Three are in the Lord’s service full time and the others are preparing or serving the Lord in a local church. They established an indigenous Baptist Church and have seen three men leave the church to go out into pastoring. They have established a Bible Institute and Tom also serves as President of Seminary Bautista Biblica de Cono Sur. This is a network of seminaries in Argentina and Uruguay.

Tom is involved with helping three other missionary families with Baptist World Mission in Argentina. This includes handling their paperwork and orienting them to the field. It is their goal to establish more churches and train more leaders for the work of raising up indigenous Baptist Churches.
